Bourbons are a large family composed of Arabica varietals. We find the Rose Bourbon within this family, which is a hybrid between the Yellow Bourbon and the Red Bourbon. It is known for being a “high altitude coffee,” which means it is usually cultivated at altitudes of approximately 1,600 to 2,400 meters above sea level. The Rose Bourbon is distinguished as a full-bodied coffee with penetrating aromas and sweetness. It is cataloged as one of the most coveted varietals in the specialty and exotic coffees. Its quality and difficult cultivation have led it to earn its market position.

The Yellow Bourbon is characterized by the exotic yellow color of its fruits. The great majority of its production is concentrated in the largest exporter and producer of coffee globally, Brazil. Its cultivation process requires less care than the Rose Bourbon. However, it has some characteristics in common such as its sweetness. Despite this, the Yellow Bourbon differs from other members of its family for its distinguished aroma and citric notes.
